What a rotten day for the 4 who braved freezing temperatures and snow flurries! Their reward was to catch and not blank, plus they all earned points on this first 2018 Sensas Points League.
With a strong north easterly wind, all pegs where on the roadside bank for added protection and last year’s top junior picked up from where he left off. Drawn on peg 13, Ben Gregoriades had a couple of tench, a crucian and some nice roach for a winning 7lb 5oz. Not too far behind was Ben Barnett, who didn’t follow advice and used a method feeder and maggot for 3 tench and a crucian for 6lb 3oz. That’s one up for Ben!
Third place, with a handful of roach and a crucian, for 3lb 8ozs. Two of the roach were crackers and would grace any fishery (see pic).
The match was eventually cut short at 1 o’clock as all the competitors were on the verge of ‘frostbite’, but deserve great credit for sticking it out for so long in poor conditions. Well done everyone.
As there were only 4 fishing, no age groups applied.
1st Ben Gregoriades 7-5-0, peg 13.
2nd Ben Barnett 6-3-0, peg 14.
3rd Jessica Carter 3-8-0, peg 15.
4th Tom Stratford-Tuke 0-1-0, peg 12.
