Farnham AS pike handling teach-ins- extra dates at Farnham
Added on September 25, 2024

The General Committee has decided that all anglers wishing to fish for pike on GAS waters need to attend a pike handling course.  We appreciate that many of you are experienced pike anglers but with pike fishing limited on our waters fish welfare is our main concern. If you are already in possession of a  pike teach-in ticket, from a previous Farnham AS workshop, for example, that is acceptable on GAS waters.

We are running a teach-in on Saturday the 28th September at 10.00 am at Marsh Farm. We aware that not everyone  who wants to fish for pike can make that date. We have spoken with Mike Slater of Farnham AS who has kindly agreed that GAS members unable to make the course on the 28th  September may attend one of the Farnham teach-ins.

These are scheduled on the following dates:

Saturday 21st September – 10,00-1.00 pm

Wednesday 25th September – 6.00-9.00 pm

Sunday 6th October – 10.00am- 1.00 pm

Venue: SWIFTSURE, Lower Weybourne Lane, Badshot Lea GU9 9LQ

Contact: Mike Slater on 07967736815

Cost:  Free

Please bring your unhooking equipment, weight sling and unhooking mat with you.  Can you also bring 2x passport photographs.  Mike will give you a  card at the end of the session which you can use on GAS waters as proof of having attended a pike handling teach-in.

KHV/biosecurity reminder to all members
Added on September 17, 2024

We are aware of an ongoing investigation into the presence or otherwise of koi herpesvirus at a nearby fishery.

Members are reminded of the importance of all nets, net bags, weight slings and unhooking mats being thoroughly dried before bringing them onto our fisheries. There are no treatments for this condition so prevention is the only means of control
