Last Thursday Chris Harber was fishing with some luncheon meat in the deeper water at Bramley. He latched into a big fish which gave him the proper run around- particularly at the net.
Chris has caught a lot of big grass carp at Bramley over the years in the 20-30lb bracket but this one felt chunky with some extra girth. Martin Tribe - the only other angler on the lake - helped Chris weigh the fish which turned the scale round to a healthy 41lb 3 oz. Surely a GAS record and a fabulous fish to have in our waters.
Well done Chris!
Now that the extreme heat of the last few days has passed we will re-open the following water to angling from 9 am on Thursday the 21st of July:
Wood Lake, River Wey (all stretches), Johnson’s Lake (Enton), Richardson's Lake (Marsh farm) and Hill Pond (Marsh Farm)
Broadwater, Harris Lake and Bramley remain CLOSED for the time being whilst we monitor dissolved oxygen readings. These waters will open as soon as it is considered safe.
We are monitoring water temperatures closely during this period of extreme heat.
Water cools much slower than air so waters may remain closed in the interest of fish welfare.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
