The General Committee have agreed to the reopening of Johnson’s Lake with effect from 9am on Monday 17th August.
Broadwater Lake will remain closed for the time being, due to continuing concerns with water quality which are being addressed.
We will update again in due course
Members should be aware that both air and water temperatures remain high with an associated risk for fish welfare.
To minimise these risks, members are asked to:
- Feed in moderation, using no more than 2kg of groundbait, pellet or boilie per 24 hours. Uneaten bait decomposing in warm water can increase demand on dissolved oxygen.
- Play and land fish efficiently to avoid unnecessarily prolonged playing of fish.
- Have unhooking equipment ready before removing fish from the water
- Ensure your hands are wet before handling fish
- Keep unhooking mats and cradles wet and cool by frequent dousing - do not place fish on banks or dry mats or cradles
- Keep fish out of water for the minimum amount of time necessary and minimise handling and photography
- Keepnets are restricted to authorised competitions only and should be placed as deep as possible
Please fish within these limitations while we progress through what continues to be a difficult period.
