The General Committee have agreed to the reopening of Broadwater, Wood Lake, Hill Pond, Richardsons and Harris with effect from 9am on Thursday 23rd July.
Johnsons will remain closed for the time being, due to the presence of a significant blue green algae bloom.
Members should be aware that both air and water temperatures remain high with an associated risk for fish welfare.
To minimise these risks, members are asked to:
- feed in moderation, using no more that 2kg of groundbait, pellet or boilie per 24 hours
- ensure your hands are wet before handling fish
- ensure that unhooking mats and cradles are kept wet and cool by frequent dousing - do not place fish on banks or dry mats or cradles
- minimise handling and photography
- respect swim restrictions that are in place to protect aeration equipment from entangled fishing lines and potential damage
- where swim restrictions are not in place, do not under any circumstances cast toward aeration equipment with the object of placing a bait close to the equipment - this equipment can be damaged by entanglement with fishing line - don't risk shutting down our aeration equipment in this way
- keepnets are restricted to authorised competitions only and should be placed as deep as possible
Please fish within these limitations while we progress through what continues to be a difficult period.
We will update again in due course
