Godalming Angling Society
Fisheries are Open
Having considered the National Lockdown legislation (agreed by Parliament yesterday afternoon) and, particularly, the Angling Trust guidance, the General Committee are pleased to advise that our fisheries are open as usual for members only. Day and Guest tickets are not available for the duration of the lockdown.
Members are requested to consider whether their decision to travel to fish is reasonable and responsible in the context of both the letter and spirit of the lockdown rules and guidance. The current arrangements regarding social distancing, using sanitisers, sharing tackle, etc., continue to apply.
The stricter rules on ‘gatherings’ and the ‘rule of two’ means that we have reluctantly agreed to follow the Angling Trust guidance and cancel or postpone matches on our waters or those organised by GAS on other waters, for the duration of the lockdown.
Members are requested to only visit our fisheries to actually fish or collect ‘pre ordered’ items from the Apollo tackle shop at Marsh Farm. We understand that Apollo will be operating between 8am and 5pm daily.
We are fortunate that fishing has been allowed to continue under the current National Lockdown arrangements and how we respond and behave in these difficult times will determine whether this continues to be the case. The Angling Trust website https://anglingtrust.net/covid-19/ has useful information and guidance for anglers.
