Record match weight on River Wey at Broadford Bridge

Henry Golas fishing peg 13 in the first field below the road bridge broke the Broadford match record with a fabulous weight of 43.13.0. The catch consisted of seven pounds of Roach and Dace then Seven Bream for 36lb including two over 6lb. (sadly no pic taken). Henry balled it at the start with three "jaffas" of groundbait and mole hill soil and caught from the start with an early Bream with the main shoal moving in after two hours. When things went quiet he cupped the remainder of his groundbait and had two more Bream near the end. All were caught on the pole with maggot or pinkie. The catch was all the more remarkable given the very warm day with unbroken sunshine and caught through the middle of the day which goes to show how little we really know about the fish we seek to catch. Well done Henry
